Together with the Rural Alliance for the Arts (RAA) and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra (ISO), Hillenbrand Inc. has entered into a three-year strategic partnership agreement. The agreement is designed to increase the quality of place through arts and culture for the southeastern Indiana region. This agreement is part of a broader regional strategy to attract and maintain a competitive rural workforce, according to a press release.

“As a company, we understand that strong communities play an integral role in building a strong workforce,” said Joe Raver, Hillenbrand president and chief executive officer. “Investing in our communities to provide increased access to arts and cultural opportunities will build our region’s capacity to engage, innovate, inspire and drive a robust quality of place. We’re very pleased to bring this opportunity to our region which will serve our current workforce and work to attract future employees.”

"Quality of Place" encapsulates the idea that communities with strong foundational elements like industry, quality hospitals and exceptional school districts provide a welcoming and sustainable environment that attracts families to live and work. Elements like arts and culture fit within a broader placemaking and workforce strategy.

This year’s event will be held at The Plex baseball and softball park, 671 Pohlman St., in Batesville Sunday, July 1. The ISO will present its Star-Spangled Symphony performance, concluding with a patriotic fireworks finale. The event will be open to everyone, and there is no cost to attend.

“We are thrilled to partner with Hillenbrand, the RAA and the southeast region of Indiana,” said Beth Outland, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra vice president of community engagement and strategic innovation. “Batesville understands the important role arts and culture plays in a community. Extending our reach beyond Indianapolis gives us the opportunity to serve as ambassadors for the arts and bolster the support of arts and culture in rural communities.”
